Bar Council of India issues Guidelines for Online Examination in light of Covid-19 Pandemic

Bar Council of India taking cognizance of the crisis caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic has issued Guidelines for conducting Online Examination for Final Year Students as well as Immediate Semester Students.

Considering the detailed Guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission on 27.04.2020, the General Council of the Bar Council of India in its meeting held on 24.05.2020 has resolved that the Final Year Students of 3 years and 5 Year Courses may be allowed to appear for their examination in online mode. It also took into consideration the difficulties, which some students may face in online accessibility and therefore has asked the Universities to adopt an alternate strategy for conducting examinations.

In respect of the Immediate Semester Students, the General Council resolved that such students should be promoted on the basis of performance of previous years and marks obtained in internal examination of the current year. It also directed the Universities to conduct the end semester examination within a month of re-opening of colleges.

Bar Council of India has strictly instructed the Institution to maintain the highest academic standards and integrity in conducting the examinations. In view of the safety and health of the students, it has instructed the Institutions to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 Protocol and ensure compliance with hygiene and social distancing norms in classrooms and campus.
